DAY 01: SINGAPORE - ARRIVAL
Group members arrive separately at Changi airport and make their own way to the Ambassador Hotel to check-in under the booking of BMT GROUP (Budget Mekong Tour). Group meeting in the hotel lobby with Tour Leader at 6pm for talks and giving information about Singapore. He will give each person the tour itinerary so that you will know what travels lie ahead, check your documents including the travel insurance to help you get everything right, and inform you of the next few days’ programme. Proceed to restaurant with your T/L for dinner at your own expense.

DAY 02: SINGAPORE - MELAKA (Breakfast)
Breakfast at the hotel. (Please look for breakfast table with sign BMT Group.)
(Morning optional tour by previous arrangement with your T/L to Jurong Bird Park perhaps or Sentosa Island.) Return from any optional tour a little before 2pm at the hotel. Your T/L will pick up group at 2pm in the afternoon at the hotel to go to Melaka and take care of group's travels in Malaysia by private transport.
Arrive at your hotel in Malacca and T/L will check you in.
Meeting of T/L with group in hotel lobby at 6pm to give information and about optional tours in Malacca. Take group to a restaurant for nonya dinner (pax will pay themselves).

DAY 03: MELAKA -TOUR (Breakfast)
Breakfast at the hotel. At 8.30am meet in the hotel lobby to go on a tour of Malacca with your T/L, visiting the old baba-nonya enclave, the Cheng Hoon Teng Chinese Temple, Hindu Temple and Muslim mosque located side by side in a row in former Heeren Street, see the Malacca Museum housed in the 17th century Dutch Stadhuys, walk through the A Famosa fortress gateway built by the Portuguese when they captured Malacca from Sultan Mahmud in 1511 and which the Dutch rebuilt in 1641 when they took Malacca from the Portuguese up St Paul’s Hill where the tomb of St Francis Xavier was before the body was removed to Goa. See the reconstructed flagship of conquistador Alfonso d’Albuquerque which led the Portuguese fleet to conquer Malacca. Be free to stroll about in town before returning to your hotel. Your T/L can introduce you to typical Malacca nonya food, if you like to sample this unique cuisine.

DAY 04: KUALA LUMPUR (Breakfast)

At 4pm, meet at hotel lobby for T/L to take group to Kuala Lumpur, driving through the countryside populated mostly by Minangkabau settlers from Sumatra during the 18th & 19th century. We pass fruit orchards, tin-mining area, rubber and oil-palm plantations, Malay villages and towns. He will help group check into hotel. Meet group at 6pm for talks in the hotel lobby and go to dinner together. (Pax pay their own.)

DAY 06: CAMERON HIGHLANDS - TOUR (Breakfast)
T/L meets group at hotel lobby at 8.30am for the 3-hour drive to Malaysia’s premier mountain holiday playground of Cameron Highlands where fruits, flowers, vegetables and good-grade tea are cultivated all over the mountain slopes. On the way, stop at an aboriginal settlement to see how this ethnic group of jungle folks live. Try your hand at using a blowpipe which these folks use to hunt small game. You will pass a popular waterfall and a huge reservoir at Ringlet before arriving in the main town of the highlands.
T/L checks group into the hotel in Tanah Rata township. T/L will take group for a driving tour of the highlands up to Brinchang where Gunung Brinchang sits at over 2,000 metres above sea level. Upon returning to Tanah Rata go to a restaurant for dinner (pax's own account). The town sleeps early but it is nice to stroll along the rows of shophouses.

At 8am T/L transfers group from hotel to Penang, Georgetown. T/L will check group into the hotel. Do an orientation walk around your hotel vicinity with your T/L to get to know your surroundings. Have some of the well known Penang hawker's food.

DAY 09: PENANG - ROUND ISLAND TOUR (Breakfast)
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your T/L in the hotel lobby at 8.30am to go on a tour of the island, visiting the beaches of Batu Ferringhi and Teluk Bahang, the fruit orchards and durian plantation, nutmeg groves of which Penang was famous during the British colonial days, see the old Snake Temple with vipers coiling in the rafters and nooks and corners, a view of Penang Bridge and see Fort Cornwallis that Captain Francis Light built in the 1790s; take in the Khoo Kongsi clan house to marvel at the very intricate carvings by artisans imported from China at the turn of the 20th century. Stroll awhile in Penang’s “Little India” filled with household goods from India, saris, spices and heady incense. Before returning to your hotel your T/L will take you to a food centre for another taste of the local hawkers’ food of which Penang is justly proud of.

DAY 11: PENANG TRAIN TO BANGKOK (Breakfast)

Meet your T/L in the hotel lobby at 12pm and transfer to the Railway station for you to board Train #36 to Bangkok, departing at 13.45 pm . (Unaccompanied.)
He will see you to your seats/bunks and say goodbye to the group here. He will be on the platform until the train departs from the station. On the train if you wish your seat to be turned into a bunk, call the attendant - each carriage has one attendant - to make up your bunk for you. At about 5.15pm the train pulls into Padang Besar railway station where you will disembark with you luggage to have your passport stamped for exit by the Malaysian immigration at the platform office; then move over to the Thai immigration & Customs side for your entry into Thailand to be stamped on your passport before re-boarding the same train for the one-hour journey to Hat Yai. Here you can buy delicious fried chicken, sticky rice and coffee. The train will depart at about 6.20pm, so don’t wander away from the train. There is a buffet car on the train and you can also order food to your seat. Buffet car closes at 9pm.

DAY 12: BANGKOK - TOUR (No breakfast provided.)
Arrive in Bangkok railway station at 10am and be met by your Bangkok T/L who will transfer group to the hotel. Walk with your T/L to a restaurant for lunch at your own expense and then tour the Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew), Reclining Buddha Temple (Wat Po), take the local ferry across the river to visit the Temple of the Dawn (Wat Aroon) and return to your hotel. (Entrance fees and boat fare are included in this package.) T/L will introduce to you a good local restaurant for your own dinner. T/L will talk to group on the optional tours for tomorrow.

DAY 14: BANGKOK - ON TRAIN TO NONG KHAI (Breakfast)
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your T/L at breakfast time for talks regarding the trip to Nong Khai and about Lao visa-on-arrival. (Optional tour.)
At about 7.30pm (time to be ascertained), your T/L will transfer you to the Hualamphong Railway Station to board your night express train #69 to Nong Khai near the Thai-Lao border, departing at 20:45pm (unaccompanied).

DAY 15: NONG KHAI - VIENTIANE
Arrive at Nong Khai railway station about 9am. Your Lao T/L will meet you at the railway station and take you across to Laos by the Bridge bus. At the Lao immigration checkpoint he will assist you in getting your Lao visa (make sure you have the exact cash US$30 to pay to the immigration official directly for your visa-on-arrival with 2 photos and the visa form duly filled in). Then he escorts you to Vientiane, the capital of the Lao Republic, 25km away and checks you into the hotel. He will take you by tuk-tuk on an afternoon tour of Vientiane visiting the Haw Pha Kaew, Wat Si Saket, Patuxai, and introduce you to a Lao herbal sauna (US$1 entrance) and Lao massage (US$3 per hour) if you like.
He will accompany you to an evening meal at your own expense where more information could be provided you before returning to your hotel and be at leisure.

Stroll along the very interesting main street of Thanon Sisavangvong with your T/L, and browse in the Hmong night market.

DAY 20: LUANG PRABANG
Breakfast at the guesthouse. Meet T/L at breakfast time for talks, followed by a morning walking tour of this heritage town – to the former royal palace, typical Lao temples including the Watermelon Temple and the best of them all, Wat Xieng Thong. We end this morning’s tour of Luang Prabang in the main street of Thanon Sisavangvong where there are many cafes and restaurants with roadside stalls selling baquette sandwiches and French-type pastries. Free at your own leisure in the afternoon.

DAY 21: LUANG PRABANG - TOUR TO PAK OU CAVES

DAY 22: LUANG PRABANG - HUAY XAI - CHIANG MAI
Breakfast at the guesthouse. At 7am T/L will transfer you to the fast boat jetty and accompany you on the Mekong River trip in a speedboat to Huay Xai (about 6 hours), to Paktha where all fast boats have to make a police report. Depending on travel conditions as allowed or disallowed by the authorities on a day-to-day basis, he will take you by truck or tuk-tuk the 25km to Huay Xai, or by a slow boat, or continue by the speedboat to the Lao immigration checkpoint at Huay Xai taking another hour, and bring you across to Chiang Khong, and from there go by private van to your hotel in Chiang Mai (about 4 hours). By late evening you will arrive at your hotel in Chiang Mai and your T/L will help you check into hotel.

DAY 28 BANGKOK - SIEM REAP (Breakfast)
Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at 7.30am at your hotel for the overland trip to the Thai-Cambodian border. Your T/L will accompany you on the coach about 4 hours to the border where your Cambodian T/L will meet you and take you across the border into Poipet for your immigration formalities. (At about 12.30pm the coach will stop at the Siam Restaurant in Aranyaprathet for you to have lunch before proceeding right to the border - better and more hygienic food here than could be got along the way to Siem Reap.) The hassle-free visa-on-arrival fee is 1,000 Baht with 2 photos and the visa form duly filled in. In Poipet he will escort you in a private minivan on the road to Siem Reap (about 4 hours), arriving at about 6pm (very unsure as it depends on road condition). Your Cambodian T/L will help you check-in and talk to you giving you information, if the arrival time is not too late. Go to a restaurant together with T/L at your own expense.

DAY 29: SIEM REAP - ANGKOR TEMPLE TOUR (Breakfast)

He will take you on a full-day tour of the Angkor Temple complex, visiting Angkor Thom built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century (to include the Bayon, Baphuon, Phimeanakas, Elephant Terrace, Terrace of the Leper King), Ta Prohm still in the fast embrace of the jungle much as Henri Mouhot found it in the mid-19th century. In the afternoon, tour Angkor Wat, the greatest of the Angkor temples, built by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. The entrance fee for the one-day Pass to the Angkor temple archaeological zone is included. Climb up Bakheng Hill to the ruins of the Bakheng Temple to watch the sunset over Angkor Wat. Return to Siem Reap and go to the Old Market-Pub Street area for your own dinner and enjoyment before walking back to your hotel nearby.

Meet your T/L in the hotel lobby at 2pm for a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing underground network of passageways used to sabotage the American occupation of Saigon. If you wish your T/L will introduce a good restaurant for dinner at your own expense.

Breakfast at the hotel. At 7am transfer to Hue by road about 4 hours.
The road to Hue takes us through the city of Danang, before a climb over the hills. The scene from the top of the Hai Van Pass is one of the most impressive panoramic scenes in Vietnam, with views of Lang Co Beach and China Beach. In Danang, visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture (entrance fee included), the best sight in this city. Upon arrival in Hue we check into our hotel. Hue was once the imperial capital of Vietnam established by Emperor Gia Long who founded the Nguyen dynasty.

Day 42: HUE (Breakfast)

He will take you on a city tour to see the sights of this former imperial city – the Citadel built by Emperor Gia Long in 1804 according to Feng Shui geomancy, go on a boat cruising the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda on a low hill and visit the mausoleums of the Nguyen emperors along the river bank. Return to Hue and be at leisure.

Day 45: HANOI
Arrive in Hanoi train station at about 05.38am. T/L will transfer you by taxi to hotel for check in. While checking in get information from him about what you can do in Hanoi.
Go on a walking tour with your T/L of the Old Quarter near your hotel.
